Community Literacy Outreach -

I joined the Arts Council in response to a growing sense of advocacy for the value of arts and culture in my hometown.  I hope together we can address and enable social change, explore the potential of cultural spaces within a community, and support the artist’s role in positive and thoughtful renewal and change for our city. Currently, I facilitate community literacy programs and represent the Literacy Council of Powell River.

I spent my career in international education, working in large cities in six countries on three continents.  Since retiring here in Powell River I have discovered the rewards of being part of a small community, and in particular the vibrant Arts landscape of Powell River.                                Regards, Michael

I am passionate about sharing my skills through teaching in the many different mediums I practice, including but not limited to quilting, weaving, felting, beading, knitting, paper arts, and painting in both acrylics and watercolours.  Retirement allows me to volunteer, be a ravenous reader and an avid gardener.
